The Next Step; Location Ideas

I'm fully aware that time is pressing on and that I need to move on with my actually production work.

One of the most important things in any film, not just the short film industry is the location, when an amateur film has a dogdey location it ruins the whole thing. I face a slight problem in the fact my film is set in a school, doing an Alevel piece there is a worry that it will look unimaginative and cheesy, however I am organising to go to the local primary school so that i can film in the relevent environment. There are examples where low budget films have used schools as a part of their location and it looks really effective. One of the most successful films that comes to mind is "Brick" By Ryan Johnson. The way the scenes are shot within the school use really interesting camera angles and filmed in odd bits of the school, so it doesnt look like a school at all.

Obviously my case is a little bit different because the whole premise of the film is to look at the childs development through school. But like ive mentioned before I only want snippets of the actual physical school environment. Flashes of colour and blurring panning shots of the colourful paper display in the corridor's etc. However I still want it to look tasteful, my main worry is that its going to look very cheesy and amateur.
