I trawled through a couple and I came across one that really moved me.
It was called Paper Hearts-
The thing that drew me to it in the first place was the name, I immediately thought of a thin and fragile relationship and wanted watch this, as when I have been doing some research into a film of my own, I really like the idea of looking closer into human relationships.
When watching this I loved how their wasn't much dialogue how that their fragmented, and almost dysfunctional relationship was shown throw the distance between where they walked.
I also found interesting how it was a father son bond, which is commonly known to be the tightest relationship and how the boy was so young. This goes against the stereotype that its only teenagers who have difficult relationships with their parents.
The anger portrayed by the father at the beginning made me wonder why he was like that around his son, I immediately picked up that their was more to him that meets the eye.
The fact that the random stranger stopped to ask if they little boy was okay, plays on the natural motherhood stereotype and how woman are deemed to be more sensitive than men.
It was very apparent, even right at the beginning that the father and the mother of the young boy aren't together any more. This makes it extremely relevant and relatable to the modern audience, as everyone has either been witnessed a broken partnership or marriage or has been through one themselves. This could really toy with the emotions of the audience.
These are all things that I would love to try and explore in my own film. I want to try and explore human relationships and see how real stereotypes actually are. Also, to create a successful film I think its incredibly important to evoke true emotion. Hopefully these are all things I can portray.
